Yuri Ancarani

Bora

This is dedicated to its homonymous video sculpture by Yuri Ancarani, an artist with a growing reputation in Italy and abroad.
An in-progress project launched in 2011, during which the artist dealt with the karst landscape of the Val Rosandra and the bora, a wind that blows at 140 kilometres per hour, shaking and modelling the rigid and essential nature that Ancarani has captured.
Texts by Federica Galloni, Gianfranco Maraniello, Ludovico Pratesi, Marianna Liosi and a conversation between Angela Tecce and Yuri Ancarani explore an anomalous work that – as Angela Tecce suggests – induces the observer to oscillate between the impression that it is subtly cryptic and the opposite, that it is instead clearly literal.

This volume was produced as part of the third edition of the initiative Museo Chiama Artista, born of the common intent of the architecture and contemporary art service of the General Directorate for the Landscape, Fine Arts, Architecture and Contemporary Art of the MiBACT – Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Tourism and AMACI – Association of Italian Contemporary Art Museums, to support the contemporary art system by commissioning new works from Italian artists to be exhibited in the AMACI museum network.
