Burn After

Artist’s book in search of a performer, Burn After is an artistic and editorial project by Elenia Depedro.

A book performance, an artwork that takes the form of a book to transform it into an instrument with which to trigger new processes.

Speaking directly to the reader, the author unveils her artistic convictions, seeks a discussion, asks people to share ideas and concepts, invites them to perform specific actions, and encourages them to make a choice: “to use this seemingly innocuous object as a notebook, or to try to follow the instructions and do exactly what the book asks: write down secrets, projects, plans for the future and then burn them… only in this way you leave the book-performance frame to enter at last into a freer place.”
