Gianluca Costantini

Daily Iraq

8,00

The famous graphic journalist Gianluca Costantini recounts in his unique and unmistakable style some of the latest events in contemporary Iraq, building, in a series of colour plates, a gallery of images with precise historical and political references.

The author chooses to draw directly on the pages of the early twentieth-century book dedicated to classical Greek sculpture Griechische Bildwerke by Max Sauerland.
The photographs of the sculptures become the formal and historical background on which he Antiquity and the present, storytelling, and reportage, drawing and photography merge into a single complex picture in which surprising juxtapositions and references arise according to a continuous multiplication and stratification.

The catalogue collects twenty plates accompanied by the text Dionisio in Iraq by Elettra Stamboulis.
