T*

A look at the boundaries of gender identity

18,00 Spedizione inclusa

It is a photographic book presenting the works of eight young photographers (Emiliano Biondelli, Christian Contin, Cesare Fabbri, Luca Gambi, Giovanni Lami, Filippo Molinari, Lia Pari, Valentina Venturi) resulting from their unique and surprising research on the theme of gender identity.

This book represents the outcome of a project created around the trans community of the city of Ravenna and is supported by the Youth Policies and Equal Opportunities Departments of the Municipality of Ravenna, with the contribution of CGIL Ravenna, CGIL Emilia-Romagna and the Chambers of Labour of the region.

The catalogue brings together the results of a collective photographic journey in which each author has developed his or her viewpoint: from portraits to reportage; from the study of spaces to reflections on places and the landscape; from the theme of the nude to “disguise”.
The selection of works is accompanied by a text by Porpora Marcasciano of MIT, who recalls in a lucid excursus the relationships between photography and the image of transsexuals, and the presentation by the project’s curator Silvia Loddo, who illustrates the authors’ different approaches to the subject.

The publication is realised on the occasion of the exhibition T* – Sguardo sui confini dell’identità di genere, in Galleria Ninapì and Teatro Rasi, Ravenna, 10 January-13 February 2009.
