Viaggio in Occidente

Mario and Giorgio Pasotti’s collection of traditional Chinese puppets and marionettes started in the second half of the 1980s out of curiosity and love for Chinese culture. It consists of sixty-one string puppets and sixteen stick puppets.

The will and desire of the owners to start a process of study and valorisation of their theatre collection convinced them to entrust it to the Museo del Burattino in Bergamo.

The curators and the museum have thus embarked on a gradual and wide-ranging process of getting to know the collection, which has produced in this publication a first useful level of knowledge that, with greater awareness, allows it to be handed over, albeit full of stimulating problems, to the community.
